Cohesion in Mentor-Mentee Relationship, Interpersonal Ability, and Cadet Life Satisfaction in Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy

Abstract
Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate correlation of cohesion in mentor-mentee relationship, interpersonal ability, and cadet life satisfaction in Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy.

Methods: This study was designed as a cross-sectional descriptive study. Data were collected from 316 Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy cadets, using a self-reported questionnaire composed of items about general characteristics, cohesion in mentor-mentee relationship, interpersonal ability, and cadet life satisfaction.

Results: The average of cohesion in mentor-mentee relationship, interpersonal ability and cadet life satisfaction was 4.11¡¾0.51, 3.43¡¾0.52 and 3.74¡¾0.47 out of 5. Cohesion in mentor-mentee relationship was positively correlated with both interpersonal ability (r=.25, p<.001), and cadet life satisfaction (r=53, p<.001). In addition, there was significantly positive correlation between interpersonal ability and cadet life satisfaction (r=.49, p<.001).

Conclusion: Cohesion in mentor-mentee relationship and interpersonal ability showed statistically significant positive correlations with cadet life satisfaction. Therefore, it will be necessary to do study for program development to improve the cohesion in mentor-mentee relationship and interpersonal ability in order to enhance cadet life satisfaction.
